Four and one-half decades ago a small group of people who lived on John Clark Road had a vision of a church for the area. From the humble beginnings in 1955, in homes, to a “shed church” with donated lumber on a donated lot located at the corner of Schanbacher and John Clark Road, Michael Memorial Baptist Church began to grow in God.
God continued to bless us and supply us with the resources, which enabled us to continue to grow. In April 1990, we moved to a new location about one mile East of the former church on John Clark Road from about a 100 capacity church to about a 400 capacity church. Our members did almost all the work on the new church. Two years later our new church was paid for.
Since this time we have built a temporary sanctuary, which we moved into in February 1997, increasing our capacity from 400 to 600. This metal building will ultimately be our fellowship hall. Our Long Range Planning and Building Committees are finalizing the plans for a new church, which will be located next to the old church adjoining our fellowship hall. The new church will seat approximately 1,000.
